Dr Sean Miller
Sean graduated from University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Veterinary Science, Onderstepoort, in 2012. He also holds a BSc in Zoology and Physiology from the University of Cape Town, an Honours degree in Wildlife Management, and a Master’s degree in Diagnostic Imaging, both from the University of Pretoria.
He is a Level 3 FEI Official Veterinarian in the disciplines of Eventing, Show Jumping, and Dressage. He was appointed as the South African Team Veterinarian at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA in 2018 and he is currently the National Veterinary Welfare Officer and Advisor to both South African Show Jumping (SASJ) and Eventing South Africa (ESA).
Sean has been a member of a number of veterinary groups and is currently a director and the President-elect of the South African Equine Veterinary Association (SAEVA). From his research, Sean has published articles in a number of local and international scientific journals. He has also presented this research at both local and international conferences.
He has a keen interest in holistic veterinary care which includes a top-to-tail approach of evaluation and treatment. This involves working closely with para-veterinary professionals, such veterinary physiotherapists, in order to ensure the best possible health and performance outcomes for the horse.
He is a member of the Veterinary European Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Association, The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and the International Society for Equine Locomotor Pathology. He has completed courses in acupuncture and equine dentistry, and is presently studying towards an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner certification.
After nearly a decade working with sport horses as an assistant veterinarian, Sean opened Sport Horse Veterinary Services in May 2022.
Dr Julia Roeloffze
Julia joined Sport Horse Veterinary Services in March 2024. Julia completed her veterinary studies at the University of Pretoria in 2022. Thereafter, she completed her Compulsory Community Service year in Stanger working in a primary animal health care clinic. Julia Show Jumped competitively before starting her veterinary studies. She has an interest in equine breeding work.
When she is not working Julia enjoys riding her horse ‘Peru’ and spending time at the beach with her husband and dogs.
Julia is a qualified FEI Treating Veterinarian and is looking forward to working at FEI shows in the future.
